Qigong
Qigong originated from Taoist philosophy about the natural world and humankind's desire for “balance.” As a beginning practice, Qigong uses simple movements with breath, posture and intention to help reduce stiffness and tension, increase flexibility, decrease stress and improve vitality. Regular practice encourages smooth energetic flow throughout the body and can help with issues of balance, core strength, and emotional stability. More advanced Qigong students experience a harmonization of the body, mind and spirit, as well as deeper awareness of universal rhythms. The ultimate goal of any Qigong practice is the gradual re-alignment with one’s natural, pre-destined path.
Weekly Classes focus on the playful exploration of body and spirit through the practice and theory of Qigong. Exercises are typically done standing, but can be adapted for physical limitations. Beginning and intermediate students are encouraged to join – the only requirements are an open mind, an inquisitive heart, and comfortable clothes. Many Qigong styles are incorporated into the weekly classes, all based upon student needs and seasonal shifts. Scheduled as a 6 – 8 week long series, these classes give any student a true “taste” of what Qigong has to offer!
Qigong Intensives & Workshops are short-series and one-day workshops that offer an opportunity to “dive in” more deeply to a particular Qigong form. Various Qigong forms are taught, including Silk Reeling, 8 Brocades, Hun Yuan Gong, 5 Animal Frolics, Healing Sounds and Colors, Kuan Yin Form, Sitting Meditation, and Laying Postures.
Private Instruction is also available to specifically address individual health and wellness concerns. During a 45-minute consultation, a custom Qigong routine will be developed with instructions for an at-home practice.
